For Students: Undergraduate Students

The UW DISC Lab is accepting undergraduate applicants for the Summer 2025 semester!

If you are interested, our Google Form will open in early April for applicants applying for the Summer 2025 semester. Please fill it out during that time and a member of our team will get back to you.

How to get involved as an undergraduate student:

There are many ways undergraduates can gain research experience in the DISC Lab. Here are just a few of the ways you can make a meaningful impact while building your expertise:

Research for Credit: Research is a great way to gain upper-level psychology credit, especially for those taking a Psychology major. Dr. Ashley Jordan mentors students in conducting empirical studies while they gain experience working with children, infants, and adolescents. Undergraduate research assistants are expected to commit to two semesters. Students will be provided with adequate training in data collection, recruitment and data analyses.

Thesis Students: Conducting independent research and creating a thesis can be an excellent opportunity to gain academic writing skills, develop critical thinking, and deepen your knowledge of topics such as child development, social categorization, social cognition, and gender diversity. If you are an honors student or a student interested in completing a thesis under the supervision of Dr. Ashley Jordan, please contact her at aejordan@wisc.edu.

Psychology Research Experience Program (PREP): PREP is a research-intensive summer course meant to engage those from historically underrepresented backgrounds in psychological research. If selected, students will engage in lab research and networking opportunities. You can learn more about PREP here.

Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP): The SROP is an accelerated summer program that allows students to engage in independent research and gain experience working closely with faculty mentors. Matches are made based on aligning research interests. You can learn more about SROP here.
